Useful Information

Accommodation Information

Check-in time at the conference centres is from 15:00; check-out by 10:00. Reception is manned 24 hours a day. You can store your luggage at either venue, please speak to the reception staff for assistance.

Breakfast is served daily from 07.00 – 09.30; lunch (for companions, or if you are arriving early) is available both in the restaurant and in the bar at each venue from 12.00 – 13.45 and dinner is served in the restaurant each evening from 19.00 – 21.00 (if you are arriving early). 24-hour Room Service is also available for all delegates in Radcliffe and Scarman, but must be paid for before departure.

Each venue also has a bar serving a full range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks for you to enjoy.

The venues offer hotel-styled en-suite bedrooms and feature a study desk area, telephone, television, radio alarm clock, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, fresh towels, toiletries and an iron/ironing board. If there is anything else you need, then just contact Reception who will be happy to help.

Wellbeing and Healthcare

If you have urgent healthcare needs whilst on campus, you can: call 999 for emergencies, or use the NHS 111 service – call 111 or visit 111.nhs.ukLink opens in a new window for urgent but not emergency care. There is a pharmacy on campus in the Students’ Union atrium.

Campus security

Warwick is a very safe university, but if there is a safety/security issue that you need help with outside of WBS, you can contact our Community Safety team. Their webpage is: warwick.ac.uk/services/community-safety or you can call them on x22222 (internal) or 024 76522222 (external).

Smoking

It is prohibited to smoke in indoor public places in the UK. Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is forbidden anywhere in University buildings or directly outside buildings. Smoking shelters are not provided but locally designated smoking areas should be identified.

Sports & Wellness Hub

The Sports & Wellness Hub features a large state-of-the-art gym, a 12-lane 25-metre swimming pool complete with a movable floor, fitness class studio spaces, climbing and bouldering walls, squash and netball courts, a Sports Arena, and outdoor pitches.

Those staying within Scarman or Radcliffe can take advantage of a single use gym and swim option (you will need to show your hotel room key and answer a few questions).

Warwick Art Centre

Right in the heart of the campus you will find the newly refurbished Arts Centre with a state-of-the-art cinema, theatre and concert hall.

Health Insurance

Delegates are expected to arrange their own travel and health insurance.

Electricity/Adapters

In the UK, the associated plug type is G, which is the plug that has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. The UK operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. If you need an adapter, please speak to a member of the PIM conference team who will be able to provide one (subject to availability).

Currency

The national currency of the UK is pound sterling. ATMs (cash point machines) are located outside the Post Office/Rootes Grocery store. Travellers can use international credit cards, bank cards and debit cards at the ATMs.

Time zone

 Until 30 October, the UK is on British Summer Time (BST), which is five hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time.

Covid

If you should develop Covid during your time with us, the university rules are as follows:

  • If you test positive, whether you have symptoms or not, you must self-isolate for 5 days.
  • After 5 days, you may choose to take a lateral flow test, please contact us if you need help on how/where to obtain these.

Please do let us know if you do develop symptoms.
