Warwick has over 305,000 alumni worldwide, 31,000 of whom are based in China, our largest international alumni community outside of the UK. Our campus supports a vibrant student body and a growing portfolio of high-impact, collaborative research projects.
Warwick researchers work closely with top Chinese institutions, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT), Peking University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to advance cutting-edge research. These partnerships are producing high-impact publications in top international journals and contributing to the training of the next generation of globally recognised research leaders.

Collaborating with world-leading institutions.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Our collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is Warwick’s longest-standing institutional partnership in China, marked by deep and evolving academic collaboration.
Since its renewal in 2019, the five-year Joint Seed Fund Link opens in a new windowhas supported over 55 joint research projects across disciplines.
The partnership continues to expand through initiatives such as a new institution-wide joint PhD programmeLink opens in a new window, welcoming its first cohort in Autumn 2025, alongside academic workshops, virtual classrooms, and the SJTU–Warwick Global Challenge, which empowers student-led innovation. Between 2020 and 2025, Warwick and SJTU researchers co-authored 155 publications, as indexed by Scopus, reflecting the strength and productivity of this enduring collaboration.

Fudan University
In November 2022 a Memorandum of Understanding was renewed between Warwick and Fudan University recognising the value of the mutual development of our common strengths and complementary portfolios.
The two world-class universities are committed to designing and developing new research projects, exchanging academic information and staff and student exchange.
Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT), Ningbo
Warwick is proud to demonstrate its commitment to a growing partnership with the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT), marked by the launch of the first collaborative PhD cohort in September 2025. This milestone reflects our shared dedication to advancing research excellence, nurturing emerging talent, and deepening international academic engagement.
Peking University
Warwick shares a long-standing and valued partnership with Peking University (PKU), and we extend our congratulations to PKU on its continued global leadership in higher education and research. We remain committed to deepening this collaboration by exploring new opportunities that enhance academic excellence, amplify research impact, and strengthen global engagement.
