Supporting collaboration with Japan
Warwick has a strong history of research collaboration with Japanese institutions across many disciplines.

On 15 May 2025, The University of Warwick was honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) LondonLink opens in a new window.
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science is Japan’s leading funding agency and is largely funded through annual subsidies from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Established in 1932, JSPS promotes the advancement of academic research in all disciplines from social sciences and humanities to natural sciences and engineering.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen academic ties and explore new avenues for collaboration between Warwick and leading Japanese institutions.
JSPS International Fellowships for Research in Japan
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) carries out programs that provide excellent researchers from other countries an opportunity to conduct collaborative research, discussions, and opinion exchanges with researchers in Japan. These programs are intended to help advance the overseas researchers' research activities while advancing science and promoting internationalisation in Japan.
These fellowships must be started between 1st April 2026 - 31st March 2027.
