EUTOPIA Connected Communities
What Are EUTOPIA Connected Communities
Connected Communities are thematically coherent spaces that connect academic staff and students across our EUTOPIA partners.
There are ten new Integrated Connected Communities (teaching and research), building upon more than 30 Connected Learning Communities (CLCs) and they span several different focus areas. Each community is led or co-led by a EUTOPIA partner university and consists of members from some or all of the other partners.

Since 2020, our communities have been organising cross-campus activities for students. Students are at the heart of the activities, and they shape their own learning outcomes. The ambition is to develop students with intercultural skills, international networks, and global relationships.
Hear Professor Jo Angouri, Academic Director of Education and Internationalisation, explain the function of connected communities.

Multilingualism and Diversity CLC
This community is made up of experts from our EUTOPIA partners, bringing interdisciplinary learning to explore key issues of Multilingualism and Diversity. We are building a community of students and academics alike, who are passionate about Multilingualism and want to explore the local relevance of global problems. Our goals are to champion diversity and cross-university collaboration, transform the learning experience and contribute to building a new academic model.
Our Vision
We provide an inspiring and supportive learning environment to help students develop their skills and confidence with innovative pedagogies.
Our community aims to bring students from different levels together to give them the chance to collaborate on projects and make global connections. We want to empower students and provide them with the opportunity to be more involved in their own learning experiences. This is why we have launched several pioneering activities such as the possibility for students to design their module in Multilingualism.
Our Programme of Activity
We have an exciting programme of activities ranging from courses and workshops to a student-led conference. Our new micro-credential approach reflects the personal growth and skills that EUTOPIA students gain on the programme. Click here to download our 2023-24 programme.
Experience of international mobility and working with people from different universities and different cultures, is incredibly valuable in today’s global world – and you don’t have to have the resources to travel. Through EUTOPIA you can work with another culture and institution without needing to go abroad.
Supporting and Incubating Community Initiatives
For the student conference, the EUTOPIA team mentored seven students from Warwick and Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, to organise the running of an online conference.
Thirty students participated including three panels of students and a keynote speaker from Warwick.
There was such a positive response from the event that the community will definitely expand the programme next year. Learning communities are like incubators, each year more communities grow and develop further.
“The highlight of Connected Learning Communities is working with so many great partners and institutions.
Meeting colleagues from partner institutions has given me a greater sense of community. I've been working with some students since the beginning of the year, so seeing them grow and working with them to present a wonderful Conference was just fantastic.”
