The University of Warwick has signed an agreement with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) to establish a new framework that enables all interested departments to offer a joint PhD programme.

On 25 October three Rutherford Strategic International Fellows presented their research at a showcase event hosted by the Institute of Advanced Study (IAS). The showcase was a celebration of the IAS’s funding schemes and gave the opportunity for current fellows to meet other members of the academic and administrative community.

Warwick is committed to supporting our academic colleagues to build and develop international collaborations that will strengthen their research. We have a long standing agreement with FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) which is the state funding agency for São Paulo, Brazil, to jointly fund research projects between researchers from the University of Warwick and from the State of São Paulo. Through this agreement, Warwick researchers are able to apply to the SPRINT (São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration) funding call.

The UK government, as part of its industrial strategy white paper, has announced a new Fund for International Collaboration (FIC). This Fund aims to enhance the UK’s excellence in research and innovation through global engagement and will focus on bilateral and multilateral partnerships with “leading nations with a reputation for excellence". It is administered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and is worth £110 million.

Warwick is delivering English language training to rural college teachers in partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Last week eleven undergraduate science and engineering students from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore visited Warwick to gain interdisciplinary research based training. They were hosted by the departments of Physics, Computer Science and the Biomedical Sciences Division at Warwick Medical School.

Twelve early career researchers from four strategic international partner institutions have been awarded three month placements at Warwick to catalyse long-term interdisciplinary collaborations and undertake training activities to support their career development.

Warwick has been awarded the University Careers Services Best Practice Award by the Global University China Career Union (GUCCU) for the institution’s support of students who are seeking their first graduate role in China.

Last Friday, 23^rd March, Warwick launched a brand new careers fair in Shanghai to support our international student experience. The Fair was held in collaboration with the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham and adds a further dimension to our wrap-around careers support which students receive from pre-entry through to graduation and beyond.
