Professor Jo Angouri has been unanimously elected as the next Lonnoy Chair for Multilingualism of the Brussels Centre for Language Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The Chair is awarded every year to a researcher in Linguistics with a solid international reputation and whose research has affinity with the theme of multilingualism in the broad sense.

Professor Jo Angouri said “I’m delighted to take on this honorary position and to have the opportunity to enable synergies between University of Warwick colleagues and the Brussels Centre for Language Studies and to consolidate the already strong relationship I developed with the VUB colleagues through my EUTOPIA role and research initiatives.

Although research collaboration is well established in HE, I strongly believe we need a new model of partnership for addressing current, and future, complex problems. My aspiration, and hope is that we create a deep partnership and a structure for innovation led by our universities. I am looking forward to exploring new questions, meeting students and new colleagues, learning together and also having the opportunity to working with early-career colleagues in exciting new projects and initiatives.”
