Strengthening Transatlantic Ties: Warwick Welcomes Delegations from Washington University in St. Louis

Last week, the University of Warwick was delighted to host two distinguished delegations from Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), further strengthening the growing partnership between our institutions.

On Monday 9 June, we welcomed Professor Feng Sheng Hu, Dean of Arts & Sciences, and Professor William Acree, Vice Dean of Interdisciplinary Initiatives and Innovation. Their visit focused on deepening existing academic connections and exploring new opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and student mobility. Discussions centred on shared priorities in interdisciplinary research, global education, and innovation in teaching and learning.

Just two days later, on Wednesday 11 June, a second delegation from WashU’s Institute for Informatics, Data Science & Biostatistics (I²DB) visited Warwick’s Gibbet Hill campus and the WBS Teaching Centre. The group engaged in productive meetings with Warwick counterparts, exploring potential for collaborative research projects, joint funding applications, and student exchange programmes in the fields of data science, health informatics, and biostatistics.

These visits reflect the growing momentum behind Warwick’s strategic international partnerships in The Americas, particularly with institutions that share our values of academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement. WashU and Warwick have already collaborated on a number of initiatives, and these latest exchanges signal a shared commitment to expanding the scope and impact of our work together.

As Warwick celebrates our 60th anniversary, these visits underscore the University’s ongoing commitment to building meaningful, long-term global relationships that benefit students, staff, and society.
