Valeria Zane is the new Director of the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation
The Warwick Venice Centre celebrates the appointment of Valeria Zane as the new Director of the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation, which shares its home at the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin with the Warwick Venice Centre.
The Levi Foundation is active in musicological and ethnomusicological research in Venice and the Veneto, national and European spheres, including the cataloguing and study of music collections. The Warwick Venice Centre is eager to work with the Foundation and to collaborate ever more closely with them in our ongoing activities.
On her appointment, Dir. Zane notes:
"Taking over the leadership of the Levi Foundation means taking on a precious and important legacy and projecting it into the future. The commitment is to preserve, regenerate, and enhance it so that it remains alive in dialogue with the present and with future generations, promoting the dissemination of knowledge and accessibility to culture. The Levi Foundation is a centre dedicated to music and deeply connected to its city while at the same time projecting its work into an international dimension, capable not only of protecting its heritage but also of generating new ideas and perspectives. This is a place where conservation, research, and experimentation support each other in a virtuous circle, all while remaining faithful to the mission of the founders: to spread the culture of music from all countries, all times, and all forms. It is with gratitude, commitment, and responsibility that I accept this appointment to work with the community to design a future that preserves and renews its history."
