Warwick Deepens International Engagement Across Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen
As part of the University of Warwick’s commitment to deepening international collaboration and advancing its global strategy, a Warwick delegation led by Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), spent a week of meaningful engagement in the Greater Bay Area of China. The visit included key stops in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Shenzhen, reflecting Warwick’s strategic focus on building meaningful partnerships across Asia.

The delegation reconnected with several long-standing institutional partners, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, the University of Macau, The University of Hong Kong, and our valued colleagues at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. These meetings provided an opportunity to reaffirm shared priorities, explore new areas for collaboration, and celebrate the achievements of joint initiatives.
In addition to university partners, the delegation engaged with representatives from the British Council and the British Consulate General Hong Kong, including Brian Davidson CMG and Susannah Morley, Director of the British Council Hong Kong. Their generous insights into the regional landscape and opportunities for UK institutions were invaluable in shaping Warwick’s approach to engagement in the area.
This visit underscores Warwick’s strategic ambition to foster globally connected education, research, and innovation. We look forward to expanding our partnerships in the region in ways that benefit our students, staff, and wider communities, both in the UK and internationally.
