Warwick at 60: Strengthening Global Ties Through EUTOPIA Week

The University of Warwick will be hosting EUTOPIA Week from 30 June to 4 July as part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, welcoming participants from across Europe and beyond to its Coventry campus.

Themed “Creating Global Connections,” the week reflects Warwick’s deep-rooted international ethos and our pivotal role within the EUTOPIA European University Alliance—a network of like-minded institutions committed to transforming higher education through collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.

We are honoured to welcome José Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Commission, as our keynote speaker. His keynote address, titled 'Europe and the Main Current International Challenges' , will offer valuable insights into the evolving role of Europe on the global stage.

Founded in 2018, EUTOPIA is building a long-term and transformative alliance of challenge-led, student-centred, entrepreneurial, and change-focused universities. Our ten European universities and six global partners have built powerful connections across our communities, institutional structures, and local industry. This is helping EUTOPIA transform how Europe addresses global challenges through collaborative research, increased mobility of students and staff, and advocating for innovation.

Prof. George Christou, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Europe) said; "EUTOPIA Week is a celebration of what makes Warwick distinctive—our global outlook, our collaborative spirit, and our drive to shape the future of higher education. As we mark our 60th anniversary, we are proud to welcome colleagues and partners from across Europe and beyond to explore how we can continue to create global connections that matter.”

As Warwick celebrates six decades of academic achievement, EUTOPIA Week stands as a powerful symbol of the University’s commitment to building bridges—between disciplines, institutions, and nations. The event underscores Warwick’s values of openness, ambition, and partnership.
