Jackie Labbe: Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies
Congratulations to Professor Jackie Labbe who has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies, succeeding Professor Lee Bridges.
The Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies is responsible for leading policy and strategy development in all aspects of graduate studies at the University and for representing the interests of graduate studies and postgraduate students in the main policy and decision making fora of the University.
Professor Labbe joined the University in 2000 as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, and is currently Director of the Humanities Research Centre. She was appointed as Chair of the Arts Faculty Graduate Studies Committee in 2006 and has represented the Faculty in a range of activities including on the Board of Graduate Studies and the Board of Undergraduate Studies. She is also an elected Assembly representative on the Senate, and a Senate representative on Council.
The role of Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies is a three year appointment and Professor Labbe will take up the position on 1 September 2010.
