UK-based consortium established to develop prototype solid-state batteries

A consortium of seven UK-based organisations including WMG, University of Warwick has signed a memorandum of understanding to combine ambitions to develop world-leading prototype solid-state battery technology, targeting automotive applications.

Fast changes between the solar seasons resolved by new sun clock

In a new study led by the University of Warwick and published in The Astrophysical Journal, scientists found that the change from solar maximum to the declining phase is fast, happening within a few (27 day) solar rotations. They also showed that the declining phase is twice as long in even-numbered solar cycles as it is in odd-numbered cycles.

New analysis reveals how region-wide policies might be ineffective in eliminating local risk factors for coronavirus spread

Using Italy as a case study, researchers from Warwick Economics have studied the impact of regional lockdown interventions on the spread of the virus during the “second wave” which began around November 2020. They find that regional policies – limited lockdowns - were not “local enough" to fully tackle local covid-19 risk differences, and argue that interventions could be tailored to better target areas at high contagion risk due to local factors, while allowing for the relaxation of restrictions in areas with lower infection risk, protecting both public health and the economy.
