New podcast series explores consent in legal history and in courtrooms today

A new podcast series commissioned by legal historian Dr Laura Lammasniemi explores the history of sexual consent and asks whether understanding that history can help tackle present-day problems in securing convictions for sexual offences. The Age of Consent features thirteen expert voices, from academics to rape crisis workers and journalists, invited by Dr Lammasniemi to bring their own perspectives to the conversation.

Virgin Media O2-led consortium involving WMG, University of Warwick wins DCMS “Diversifying the 5G Supply Chain” competition

A consortium led by a team from Virgin Media O2 has won a DCMS grant to explore possible Open RAN solutions and encourage 5G vendor diversity. The winning project team also featured technology giant CISCO; global edge platform Ori Industries; WMG at the University of Warwick who will ensure the security of the platform; and rural network provider, operator and hardware vendor, wavemobile Ltd.

New 10-year project aims to decarbonise industry and manufacturing in the Black Country

WMG at the University of Warwick and Loughborough’s School of Business and Economics will be working with West Midlands Mayor Andy Street on a new project aimed at reducing the amount of industrial CO2 in the Black Country.


Record-breaking runner inspires local school pupils at outreach event

Students from six local schools were welcomed onto the Warwick University campus for the first in-person outreach event since the covid-19 pandemic. The event, featuring marathon runner Nick Butter, was part of the University’s wide-ranging programme of activities designed to break down perceived barriers, challenge myths about university, and encourage young people to aim high.

New Faculty of Arts Building puts collaboration and engagement at the heart of a new campus ‘cultural quarter’

On 6th December, the new Faculty of Arts Building will open its doors to students, staff and the public. The £57.5m eight storey building, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and constructed by Bowmer + Kirkland, brings together a diverse and international mix of minds from all walks of life, creating the optimum environment for generating a universe of ideas.
