Our students said it best: Warwick excels in NSS 2026

9-in-10 University of Warwick students would recommend Warwick, according to the National Student Survey 2026.

The annual National Student Survey (NSS), the largest of its kind in the UK, found that 89.8% of Warwick students would recommend the University to future students. This marks a 4.4% improvement on last year – reflecting university-wide efforts continue to strengthen our education and student experience.

NSS places Warwick above the sector benchmark in six of the seven key question groupings (Teaching, Learning opportunities, Academic support, Organisation and management, Learning resources, and Student voice), and on par for Assessment and feedback.

The University achieved exceptional results across its teaching provision, with major themes Academic support (92.5%), Learning resources (92.3%), and Teaching (91.1%) all scoring above 90% positivity.

Commenting on the outstanding results, Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said: “This year’s National Student Survey results show that 89.8% of our students would recommend Warwick to future students, which is a reflection of the dedication of colleagues across the University who work every day to support our students to learn, grow and succeed.

“Alongside our recent rankings of 7th in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2027 and 68th in the QS World University Rankings 2027, the NSS results reinforce Warwick’s reputation for academic excellence and an outstanding student experience.

“Thank you to every student who took the time to share their feedback. We are proud of this result and remain committed to listening to our students and continually enhancing their experience at Warwick.”

For the second year running, Warwick students were most impressed with how teaching staff explain things (95.4% - a rise of 1.3%) and how often the course is intellectually stimulating (93.5% - an improvement of 0.9%). The third-highest Warwick metric was how easy it was to contact teaching staff when needed (93.4%) – showcasing the commitment of Warwick staff to their students.

Student voice saw one of the biggest Warwick improvements, climbing from 80.9% to 84.3%, performing above the sector average (80.2%) – reflecting positively on the work of academic and professional services staff to continue to listen to and act upon our students’ feedback and ensure that Warwick students are supported.

Three-quarters (74.4%) of Warwick finalists completed the survey – in line with the last two years and an increase on the 2023 survey.

One of the largest of its kind in the world, the National Student Survey received over 360,000 responses across the UK this year. These results show a 71.8% overall response rate from students across UK institutions, compared to a 74.4% Warwick response rate (4,001 students), on their experiences of higher education.

Reflecting on this year’s NSS, Ruth Hannant and Polly Payne, Chief Executives of the Office for Students, said: “We’re pleased to see that the proportion of students in England who view their higher education experience positively has increased for another year running. That should give us all confidence in the ability of our universities and colleges to deliver the high quality teaching, learning, and support that every student is entitled to.

“Thank you to every student who shared feedback this year. Your views will help prospective students make important decisions about where and what to study and give universities and colleges crucial insights into how experiences vary across their student populations. At the OfS, we’ll be using the findings to further develop our understanding of students’ wants and needs as we work to ensure all students get an excellent higher education, are treated fairly, and are supported to succeed in their studies and beyond.”

The NSS results continue Warwick’s progress across a series of international, national, and student-led rankings improvements. This includes climbing 6 places to 68th in the QS World University Rankings, rising 2 places to 7th nationally and being named the number one university in the West Midlands by the Complete University Guide, and soaring 4 places to 5th nationally in the StudentCrowd rankings.
