University of Warwick rises into UK top five in Daily Mail University Guide 2027
The University of Warwick climbs one place to fifth in the Daily Mail University Guide 2027, cementing its position among the country's top universities and placing it as the highest ranked university in the Midlands.
Published to coincide with A-level results day, the Daily Mail University Guide 2027 has recognised Warwick as one of the country’s outstanding universities across a range of subjects and standout features such as graduate salaries.
The latest rankings recognise Warwick’s strength in delivering excellent student outcomes, continually improving its offering in key areas including:
- Graduate Salaries, ranked 4th, up 1 place
- First Year Completion, ranked 6th, up 10 places
- High Skilled Jobs, ranked 7th, maintaining its position.
Welcoming the news, Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said: “On a day when thousands of students and families are thinking carefully about their next steps, it is a real source of pride to see Warwick recognised among the country’s top five universities. This is not simply about a league table position; it reflects the strength of our academic community, the support we give to our students, and the opportunities a Warwick education opens up.

Our task is to offer an education that is rigorous, creative and supportive, and to create a community in which people can challenge themselves, discover new possibilities and thrive. The Guide also highlighted Warwick's academic excellence across a range of disciplines, with six subjects ranked first in the UK:
- French (up 1 place)
- German
- Iberian Studies (up 1 place)
- Marketing (up 3 places)
- Philosophy (up 2 places)
- Production and Manufacturing Engineering (up 2 places)
The rise to 5th place overall continues Warwick’s strong performance in national and international league tables and reflects the University’s sustained focus on delivering exceptional teaching, student support, and graduate outcomes. This includes climbing 6 places to 68th in the QS World University Rankings, being recommended by 9-in-10 Warwick students in the National Student Survey, and rising 2 places to 7th nationally and being named the number one university in the West Midlands by the Complete University Guide.
Celebrating these results, Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Institutional Lead for Rankings, University of Warwick, said: “These results are another strong indication of Warwick's continuing progress and growing reputation. They reflect the excellence, ambition and commitment that can be found across every part of our University community.

“To see six subjects ranked first in the UK, alongside our position in the national top five, speaks to the breadth and depth of Warwick's excellence. Rankings matter because they help prospective students, academic partners and employers understand the quality and impact of an institution.
“These results reinforce Warwick's standing as one of the world's leading universities and give us, our students, and our global partners, confidence as we continue to pursue our ambitions on the global stage.”
Describing the University of Warwick in its 2027 Guide, the Daily Mail said: “Popular with employers, graduates are the fourth-most in demand with top recruiters, according to High Fliers’ latest The Graduate Market research. Warwick is unusual among Russell Group universities in also having a strong presence in the degree apprenticeships market, with close to 1,400 students following ten programmes from advanced clinical care practitioner to electro-mechanical engineering, and more in the offing.”
