Alumni Weekend 2009

Warwick alumni are getting ready to descend on the University campus this Saturday (20th June) to celebrate the first ever Alumni Weekend.

Over two days there will be a varied programme of events taking place across campus including tours, talks and debates, presentations, arts and cultural events, sports matches and family activities.

In previous years the University has run anniversary reunions but this new event will encourage alumni of all ages and backgrounds to return to campus to celebrate their time at Warwick and renew old friendships.

Vice-Chancellor, Nigel Thrift, will open the weekend with a welcome address to alumni and academic departments will be running events to catch-up with staff and other alumni, as well as see the latest research work, projects and performances from current students.

On Saturday, Warwick Arts Centre will be hosting music workshops and student presentations and the Sports Centre facilities will be open free of charge to alumni and family.

There will also be a three-course Reunion Dinner in the Rootes Building on Saturday evening, followed by the Alumni Disco in the Students' Union's brand new Copper Rooms venue.

Alumni are also welcome to attend the annual Sports Ball for current student sportsmen and sportswomen with guest speakers, British sprint canoeist Tim Brabants and rugby legend, Henry Paul.

Sunday coincides with the first day of Splat Fest, the Warwick Students Art Festival, and the Warwick Shootout 24 hour film competition will also draw to a close with screenings in the Ramphal building.

More than 700 alumni are expected to attend, but there are spaces still available. Use the online booking form to register and be entered into a prize draw to win an iPod shuffle.
