New Spring Season at Warwick Arts Centre

Hamlet the Clown Prince: Company Theatre MumbaiTickets for the full line up of live events for the Spring Season at Warwick Arts Centre are now on sale.

Warwick Arts Centre's varied programme features events that offer something for everyone - world class theatre, exceptional music and dance, some of comedy’s biggest names plus delightful productions for younger audiences.

Theatre

Over the next year Warwick Arts Centre will be working as associate producers to offer a season of vibrant, engaging contemporary theatre. This season welcomes PILOT, the West Midlands' original scratch night to Warwick and also offers a unique opportunity to see work in progress showings of internationally renowned Gecko's brand new show Missing - in residence at Warwick Arts Centre. Other productions include: a double bill direct from Edinburgh Fringe Festival - Stationary Excess and Pedestrian; Cheek by Jowl's Russian sister company brings to life The Tempest; and the National Theatre of Scotland's multi award winning Black Watch returns to Warwick.      

Dance

The dance programme contains some real highlights this season. The Arts Centre welcomes The Danish Dance Theatre, one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in Scandinavia, to the UK for the first time to help celebrate their 30th Anniversary. Known for turning the everyday into witty and profound dance theatre, Luca Silvestrini's award-winning Protein return with a timely new piece of physical theatre where love, wanting and connectedness take centre stage and direct from Buenos Aires, Argentina's hottest dance show returns to the UK with their brand new show Tango Fire - Flames of Desire.

Music

The music programme welcomes artists and bands from around the globe. The Mecury nominated pianist Zoe Rahman; The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain that has seen over 9,000 days of ukulele action; Penguin Cafe with the Portico Quartet; Socialist science-fiction silent film spectacular, Aelita with live accompaniment by Minima; Four time winner of Best Live Band at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Bellowhead; and Jools Holland with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

Classical Music

This season's classical line-up includes Latvian pianist Vestard Shimkus performing Rachmaninov with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra; The European Union Chamber Orchestra with acclaimed flautist Daniela Kock and the brilliant young violinist Nicola Benedetti; The Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra with a return visit from pianist Natasha Paremski; the highly-regarded Russian pianist, Nikolai Demidenko performing Beethoven and Chopin; and of course performances from our own string quartet in residence, the Coull Quartet. The Arts Centre continues to broadcast HD transmissions of the best opera live from the Metropolitan Opera House, New York.

Comedy

There is an impressive comedy line-up throughout the spring including Jimmy Carr, Tom Stade, Punt & Dennis, Micky Fmanagan, Lenny Henry, Ed Byrne, Andy Parsons and many more.

Family

The family programme is full of theatrical delights including The Mole in the Hole, an adventure for all the senses to be enjoyed by all children from 3 to 6, and join our intrepid adventurers on their quest to find a bear in We're Going on a Bear Hunt for everyone aged 3+.

Film

As the region's top independent cinema, Warwick Arts Centre offers a unique experience showing the best films from around the world and often holds special events to complement the film programme. The cinema programme has plenty of fabulous and thought provoking films to entertain and delight, with a mix of old and new, comic and serious and British and foreign cinema.

Visual Arts

The Mead Gallery presents Hannah Starkey's Twenty-Nine Pictures. Hannah Starkey is one of the most influential and significant photographers of her generation. She creates images that emerge from the split second of the everyday and are resolved into what appears to be an extended moment in time.

A Night Less Ordinary

Once again the Arts Centre are offering FREE tickets to under 26s on selected theatre productions in conjunction with Arts Council England.

Free Lunchtime Concerts

As well as this programme of new events for the Spring, the Arts Centre runs a programme of free lunchtime concerts with performances from professional and student ensembles.
