Tickets for the full line up of live events for the Summer Season at Warwick Arts Centre are now on sale.
Warwick Arts Centre's varied programme features events that offer something for everyone - world class theatre, exceptional music and dance, some of comedy’s biggest names plus delightful productions for younger audiences.
Theatre
This season welcomes celebrated comic actor Julian Barratt in a new production of the Russian comedy Government Inspector; comedy thriller, The Summer House; Joe Bone's hilarious one-man genre parody Bane; Guy Dartnell, international award winner and Improbable, Lone Twin Theatre and Dance 4 associate artist, brings his latest solo creation, Something or Nothing; and every minute, always, a unique headphones performance for two people that takes place in a cinema, as well as others.
Dance
Direct from Buenos Aires, Argentina's hottest dance show returns to the UK with their brand new show Tango Fire - Flames of Desire and Warwick Arts Centre's own Boys Dancing is back under the title The Balancing Man exploring their dreams, ideas and solutions for the future.
Music
The music programme welcomes artists and bands from around the globe, including, winner of Best Group and Best Live Band at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011, Bellowhead; French-American jazz songstress Madeleine Peyroux; acclaimed British beatboxer Shlomo, Soweto Gospel Choir; Jools Holland with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra; and many more.
Classical Music
This season's classical line-up includes the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by world renowned Lorin Maazel; the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra and of course performances from our own string quartet in residence, the Coull Quartet. The Arts Centre continues to broadcast HD transmissions of the best opera live from the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, including Il Trovatore, Die Walküre, Capriccio and Le Comte Ory.
Comedy
There is an impressive comedy line-up throughout the spring including Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford, Stephen Merchant, Jason Byrne, Dom Joly and Ed Byrne.
Family
The family programme is full of theatrical delights including Rip, Fold, Scrunch, a play with music, dance and lots and lots of paper; and a stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale The Tiger Who Came To Tea.
Film
As the region's top independent cinema, Warwick Arts Centre offers a unique experience showing the best films from around the world and often holds special events to complement the film programme. The cinema programme has plenty of fabulous and thought provoking films to entertain and delight, with a mix of old and new, comic and serious and British and foreign cinema.
Visual Arts
The Mead Gallery presents Landscape into Sculpture, Hubert Dalwood, and Design Pioneer, Anni Albers.
A Night Less Ordinary
Once again the Arts Centre are offering FREE tickets to under 26s on selected theatre productions in conjunction with Arts Council England.
Free Lunchtime Concerts
As well as this programme of new events for the Spring, the Arts Centre runs a programme of free lunchtime concerts with performances from professional and student ensembles.
