The University of Warwick is helping to remember vicitims of the Holocaust and other genocides by taking part in a number of events to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th January.

Holocaust Memorial Day is the international day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust and of other genocides and this year the City of Coventry is host to the National Commemoration on Sunday 25 January.

The Estates Office and Warwick Volunteers will be planting 500 snowdrops in the meadow near Gibbet Hill Road by Tocil Lakes in early January as part of Coventry City Council's scheme to plant 110,000 snowdrops around the City in memory of the 11 million people who lost their lives in the Holocaust.

A series of films, question and answer sessions and speakers linked to this year's theme of Stand up to Hatred will be held in Warwick Arts Centre, and screened locally within departments across the University. Warwick staff will also be giving talks at Coventry Cathedral and the Herbert Art Gallery.

On Saturday 24th January, people from all over Coventry will join together on a Stand up to Hatred Walk. If you are interested in taking part, the walk will begin outside the Belgrade Theatre at 1pm and finish at the Cathedral Ruins.
