Memorial Service for Dr Ann Barnes

Dr Ann BarnesThe University is sad to announce the death of Dr Ann Barnes who passed away peacefully after a long illness on 27 January 2009, aged 44 years.

Ann, wife of Andrew, much-loved mother of Lauren, daughter of Margaret and the late Fred and sister of David, was a senior lecturer in the Institute of Education, having transferred there from the Language Centre in 2002.

In 2004 she was awarded her PhD by the University of Warwick. She went on to lead the secondary PGCE programme, and at the time of her death was the Director of Teacher Education. She was responsible for establishing the secondary PGCE as a national centre of excellence.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for Ann's life will take place at the Panorama Suite, Rootes Building on Thursday 12 February at 6.30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Parking in carparks 7 and 8 is advised.
