The University of Warwick’s Lifelong Learning Open Evening took place on Thursday 15 May 2003 in the Ramphal Building. The event was advertised to people from the local community and beyond, offering them an opportunity to visit the University and to see what courses are on offer for mature students, particularly without traditional qualifications.

Over 150 visitors came to the event (a 40% increase on last year’s figures) often with family and friends, and expressed an interest in one of the Lifelong Learning programmes; Open Studies, Part-time Degrees, Foundation Degrees and 2+2 Degrees. Representatives from the Postgraduate team and the Institute of Education also attracted many visitors.

For many visitors it was the first time they had thought about returning to education for several years and even visiting the campus was quite a daunting thought for them. However the evening was very informal and the venue, the Ramphal Building helped create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and visitors thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to talk about their interests and concerns with academic and administrative staff and current students.

Feedback about the event was very positive and most visitors expressed a strong interest in applying to one of the programmes starting this Autumn.
