Computer Science students Alex Forrest and James Nash will be travelling to Guyana in August to help local school children learn key IT skills.

Alex was invited to visit Guyana after a previous visit to the country with the medical charity Interplast UK. He travelled with the charity as a medical photographer and provided general support for a team of doctors and nurses. The invite to return came from Guyana's First Lady, Uma Jagdeo.

James is looking forward to his first visit to the country. "It will be good to experience a completely different environment and teach these kids some basic IT skills," he said.

Alex will also be treking to the Everest base camp in September to raise money for Interplast UK. The charity is an organisation of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who provide free reconstructive surgery to children in poor nations.

The Republic of Guyana is on the north eastern coast of the South American continent. Areas of the country are poorly developed and lack basic medical services.
