Careers Service - Second in the Country

Originally published 3 October 2003

The Association of Graduate Recuiters and Barkers national graduate media audit have placed the University of Warwick's Careers Service second in the country.

The audit relied on votes from over 160 graduate employers who between them recruited almost 14,000 students in the last year.

The joint careers service of the University of Manchester and UMIST came in first. Warwick came second in front of Cambridge, Oxford, and UCL.

All the employers surveyed believed that university careers services and campus fairs are the most effective way of attracting high calibre graduates.

The employers also explained that work experience and personal recommendations have the biggest influence on graduate's career decisions.

Carl Gilleard, the Chief Executive of AGR, said: "Manchester and Warwick provide great examples of the potential for effective business relationships between employers and university careers services."

Congratulations to Kate Dodd and her team at the Careers Service.
