Today, Warwick Business School’s Industrial Relations Research Unit will play host to a high-level round table discussion on the controversial draft, Information and Consultation of Employees Regulation at the request of the Department for Trade and Industry.

The only academic institution ever asked to organise such an event, the forum will attract to the University’s campus DTI Minister Gerry Sutcliffe MP, who will be outlining the government’s approach to the draft Regulations and listening to participant’s views.

The Minister, whose portfolio includes employment relations, competition and consumers commented, “The information and consultation directive is an important landmark in employment relations in this country…The government is now keen to hear how the proposed Regulations will work in practice. Round-tables, like this one at Warwick University, are an excellent opportunity for people to comment.”

Approximately 20 West Midlands representatives, including leading employers, trade union officials, regional leaders of CBI and TUC, employment lawyers and academics are expected to participate in this forum, which will be chaired by Professor Paul Marginson, director of IRRU.
