Professor Edward Said, the Jerusalem-born international writer and scholar who argued the Palestinian cause died Thursday 25 September after eleven years fighting leukemia. He was 67.

Edward Said was a friend and honorary graduate of the University.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Miriam Cortas, and their children Wadie and Najla.

MEMORIALS:
Edward Said's family has announced that his funeral will be a private matter for family and friends. Memorials are being planned, and will be announced in the near future.
