Are you an international student making the most of your time here in the UK? If so, you could be in line for a major award and up to £2000 in prize money, by sharing your experiences of life at Warwick.

The International Student Awards 2003/4 is a major awards scheme from the British Council – the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

The Awards recognise international students who are really getting the most out of their UK experience. This is a different kinds of Awards scheme, focusing mainly on your broader experiences and achievements, rather than your studies. For example, if you have learned new skills or developed new interests since coming to the UK, achieved personal goals, played an active role in your institution or community, or are generally trying to experience all that the UK has to offer, then these Awards are for you.

Entry is simple. You need to write a ‘letter home’ (composed as if it is for relatives or friends back home), explaining how you are making the most of your time in the UK. The competition is entirely web-based. You can enter on-line at www.educationuk.org/shine. Entries must be in by 1 March 2004.

Twelve finalists will receive either a Gold or Silver Award, plus up to £2000, and will be invited to an Awards Ceremony and celebration weekend in London at the end of April 2004. Winning one of these prestigious awards could help get your future off to a flying start. Even if you don’t win a top award you could still receive a special commendation if the judges are impressed by your entry.
