Two University of Warwick students have recently returned from a trip to Bangkok where they attended a conference on hospitality and the meetings business.

Adam Adrien-Kirby and Michael Hanton, both undergraduate students at Warwick, applied for the places after the Warwick Careers Service advertised the opportunity to students interested in the Hospitality Industry through the My Careers system.

Interested students were asked to write one side of A4 explaining why they felt they would be able to bring a European perspective to the Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT & CMA) conference held from the 3rd to 6th of November.

Michael Hanton, a finalist studying Politics and International Relations, explained that both he and Adam, a second-year student of French and German, decided to apply in the hope that the trip would help them gain more experience and make informed career choices. “We know that it is important to be learning more about the industry, making contacts and gaining experience. We hoped that by going to Bangkok and the IT & CMA exhibition we would both have the information needed to make an informed career choice.”

Michael and Adam feel they have gained a lot from their experience in Bangkok. Michael commented, “This trip encouraged and inspired both of us to pro-actively pursue our careers in this sector and we both hope to complete work experience in the next 12 months.”
