Congratulations are in order for the University’s Careers Service who has been awarded the Matrix Accreditation only two months after being named second best Careers Service in the country.

This national accreditation, under the new matrix standard introduced by the DfES in conjunction with the Guidance Council, involved a visit by an external assessor during which staff, students, academics, employers, and representatives of University senior management were interviewed about the service provided by the office.

Assessed categories include the competence and professional ethos of the staff, the planning and organisation of the Services, and the commitment to equal opportunities, staff development, and customer service. A range of activities undertaken by the Services was also observed and publicity materials, policy and procedures documents were comprehensively examined.

According to Kate Dodd, Director Careers Service, “The feedback that the assessor gave us was extremely glowing. It is particularly encouraging to hear how positive our students, our employers and our colleagues are about the work we do. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who contributed to this process and to each of you for the role you play in enabling us to be the service we are. We hope we can continue to live up to it.”
