Two talented students have been awarded bursaries by The Retired Staff Association. These bursaries, valued at £300, are designed to support creative and cultural extra-curricular activites within the University including the performing arts such as music and drama and the creative arts such as writing, translation, painting, sculpture or design.

The bursaries, awarded every year, are advertised in insite and written applications are usually sought in October. Bursary holders are expected to keep the Retired Staff Association Committee informed of their relevant activities.

This year's awards go to:

Jonathon Artus, a second year Mechanical Engineering student. Jonathon is primarily a pianist and the bursary will assist his further training. He is also a member of Gaudeamus (a small vocal ensemble) and an active participant in many Music Centre activities both as a performer and accompanist.

Liz Dembrowsky, an American postgraduate student in the English department taking an MA in Writing. She is preparing an anthology of poetry and prose produced by students on the Writing Programme. The bursary will assist with the printing and distribution of this anthology.

The presentations were made Friday January 30 at a small ceremony in the Warwick Arts Centre by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stuart Palmer in the presence of members of University’s Retired Staff Association including Chairperson, Margaret Wallis.
