The Evening Telegraph Pride of Coventry and Warwickshire Community Awards are now open for nominations.

These awards are given to members of the Coventry and Warwickshire area who have made outstanding contributions to the local community. The categories are as follows:

• Local Hero
• Brave Heart Hero
• Environmental Hero
• Young Community Hero
• Public Sector Hero
• Sports Hero
• Caring Hero
• Community Student of the Year

Warwick students may be particularly interested in the Community Student of the Year category. They are looking for nominees who have made a significant impact on the Coventry or Warwickshire community in a field outside of their course curriculum, during the period of study. They are also looking for nominees who have overcome a particular personal disadvantage to help the community at the same time as completing their course.

Nominees for the Community Student of the Year category must be over 18 years of age on the date of submission and studying in Coventry or Warwickshire on a full or part time basis on a course leading to a recognised qualification, or they shouldhave recently (this year) completed such a course.
