Lambert Review Author to Visit University

Originally published 10 March 2004

Richard Lambert, author of the Lambert Review into Business-University Collaboration, will be visiting the University on Thursday 29 April.

The Government asked Richard Lambert to examine how the long-term links between business and British universities can be strengthened to the benefit of the UK’s economy. The independent review was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Pre-Budget Report in November 2002 and the final review was published on 4 December 2004.

The University was specifically praised in the review for its close and effective work with business and industry, it described Warwick as 'one of the most entrepreneurial universities in the country'. Extracts mentioning Warwick can be read in the full report at http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/media/EA556/lambert_review_final_450.pdf

The Government is now developing its response to Richard Lambert’s recommendations. The Government will make an initial response in spring 2004, and a comprehensive response in the Spending Review in summer 2004.

The University has made a formal response to the Review which can be accessed via HM Treasury's website - http://www.lambertreview.org.uk/pdffiles/uni/utheuniofwarwick160603.pdf

Members of Strategy Committee and Heads of Academic departments are being invited to put forward suggestions for items for discussion with Richard Lambert so that a programme can be drawn up for his visit. If you would like to make a suggestion please contact the head of your academic department or Cathy Charlton, the University Secretary.
