Ofsted Grade A in both Primary and Secondary

Warwick Institute of Education (WIE) has been recognised by Ofsted as a Grade A provider in Primary/Early Years PGCE - building on the recent very positive inspection. 

The Ofsted report highlighted the following key strengths of primary provision: 

  • the strong partnership with a wide range of educational settings 
  • the high quality of training, especially at the centre
  • the high level of consistency in procedures, practice and professionalism
  • the innovative use of information and communications technology (ICT)
  • the strong focus on improvement through constant review and regular consultation of all in the partnership
  • the transparency of decision making about provision
  • the effective selection of trainees who rise to the challenge of becoming reflective practitioners


This news follows an ‘Outstanding’ result earlier in the year for WIE’s Secondary PGCE provision which identified the following key strengths of the Secondary PGCE course:

  • the strong leadership at all levels
  • the high quality evaluation and improvement planning
  • the quality of the partnership
  • the rigorous quality assurance
  • the coherence of the training
  • the highly effective use of the expertise and resources in schools
  • the attention given to the needs of individual trainees, beginning with the selection process
