Warwick students have been recognised for their extra-curricular achievements in the first ever Warwick Advantage Awards ceremony, held at the end of April.

Vice-Chancellor Nigel Thrift issued Gold Awards to 19 students for their outstanding achievements which include establishing a local charity to engage disaffected teenagers away from knife crime, overseeing a building restoration project and setting up an undergraduate research publication.

The Warwick Advantage Award is the result of a unique collaboration between the Centre for Student Development and the Students’ Union, with event sponsorship from IBM.

The Warwick Advantage scheme encourages students to make the most of opportunities at the University to further personal skills and development to stand out from everybody else when approaching prospective employers.

In total, 130 students from the full range of disciplines, both undergraduate and postgraduate, achieved awards at the ceremony and the calibre of entrants overall was exemplary.

"The quality of entries for the Award was exceptional. We are delighted with the level of interest the Award has attracted in its first year. The range of achievements of Warwick students is both wide-ranging and impressive and will contribute hugely to students’ employability.”
