Warwick Volunteers have several activities planned for the festive period, giving staff and students an opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the local community.

After having coordinated Operation Christmas Child, an annual project to fill shoe boxes with gifts for children in need around the world, which ended this month, the activities continue to the end of term.

On Wednesday 3rd December, a Christmas children's party is planned for the Holbrook community centre youth group. There is also a Christmas party organised for elderly people from local areas. This year it will take place at the Chaplaincy on Warwick campus, on Tuesday 2nd December. Many guests look forward to this popular event, and come back year after year. During the party, food is provided, and the guests are entertained by talented performers from the university. The guests also have a sing-song, play prize Bingo, and enjoy a few glasses of sherry.   

As well as these events in the local community, students are also encouraged to help in their halls of residence. Large amounts of food and toiletries are left on campus when students go home for Christmas, and Warwick Volunteers are looking to send any donations to local charities supporting the homeless and refugees. Collection will take place on Saturday 6th December, but help is needed throughout the week to advertise the project, collect donations and distribute to charities.
