Wind Energy at Warwick
The University recently made a step towards improving its energy efficiency with the installation of two small-scale wind turbines on campus.
The turbines represent the first source of renewable energy at Warwick. In addition to assisting carbon management efforts, the turbines complement existing engineering research related to turbine technology and will provide invaluable data for future project work.
The turbine installation project was instigated and led by Andy Leeson, Project Engineer in the Estates Office Utilities Team. He said:
Though the turbines will only generate a relatively small amount of energy, this is renewable and represents our intentions to invest in renewable technologies.
Anyone wishing to see the turbines in action can find one outside Car Park 15 (the multi-storey car park between University House and the IMC) and the other next to Cryfield Farmhouse.
