Autumn sees the launch of the Warwick Learning Account as part of the University's human resources strategy. For some time the University has run a "learning at work" scheme for colleagues in clerical, manual and technical grades, which has now been extended to all University staff and will be known as the Warwick Learning Account.
The initiative enables every member of staff to have free access to undergraduate level provision and represents a significant commitment by the University to encourage and support continued staff development, especially amongst those who may not have had the opportunity to experience higher education before.
Russell Moseley, of Open Studies, very much hopes that "colleagues will take advantage of this initiative and find something of interest in the programmes offered by Open Studies, the Language Centre and Part-time Degrees. Next year there will be over 250 one term modules offered through Open Studies as well as over 20 Certificates each lasting three terms, while the Language Centre will be offering 125 courses at a number of levels covering 12 languages. Anyone wanting to take a part-time degree will be able to choose from 11 named awards and will benefit from a very generous entitlement of 60 credits a year, worth almost £600.
The Lifelong Learning Office (extension 28100) can provide information on the Part-time Degree programme and applications for next year will be warmly welcomed.
