RSE Summary:

After the unexpected passing of a researcher in the astronomy group at Warwick the code they had maintained for the community for over a decade was left without a maintainer. To make this code suitable for community maintenance it needed refactoring with some core libraries updating to reflect modern changes. This was addressed and a plan created to improve the code with Continuous Integration and a robust Python package creation to be made available via pip. This work resulted in a strong bid for the additional modifications and DevOps work to be done to be able to release this code to the community with a robust tooling to allow for collaborative upkeep. This will enable it to be a legacy to the original creator with use to the Astrophysics community for another decade or more.
