Still Life with Peppers by Alison Daubercies
|
This work was exhibited at the 'Young Contemporaries' exhibition at the RBA Galleries in 1955, from where it was purchased for the Coventry College of Education collection.
This attractive still life with its lively handling of paint shows the influence of both Post-Impressionism and Cubism, the flattened perspective and schematic arrangements of objects is typical of the style and subject matter which was widely used by painters exploring the colour and pattern as the principal theme of their work.
