In an interlocking composition of expanding and gathering forms, sinuous lines and delicate contours, Heisch’s Blue Wind animates organic forms with unfolding geometry. Incorporating natural influences of landscape, sky, sea or deep space, the artist works with a range of tangible associations to provoke playful connections. Counterbalancing the central tension of the work’s composition, a tightly wound orb is both molecular in its precision and planetary in its treatment of light and shadow. Likewise, forms of opaque, gradient colour suggest flower petals or atmospheric hazes. Through shifting impressions of scale, and contrasts in light and depth, tension and catharsis, Heisch’s open-ended abstractions are investigations of movement and gesture. Rendered in luminous colour, the artist’s formal relationships are guided by sensation and intuition.
