Self Portrait by Christopher William Baker R B A
|
This self portrait is a good example of the 'new realism' current in the 1970s. Another example in the collection from the same period is the self portrait by Diane Ibbotson. In both works, the artist stands facing the viewer, the studio mirror faithfully reflecting the spaces behind. Their faces are almost mask-like in their lack of expression; there is no emotion, these works are physical accounts of the artists and the rooms they inhabit.
