From ‘Bugs – the Print Portfolio’ 2000
As in many of Cornelia Parker’s more substantial works, this print deals with the transformation and past history of a found object. In this case the transformation has occurred without the artist’s intervention but the magnified image of the spider’s corpse evokes the former existence of a living occupant of an historic location.
The ten works which comprise Bugs – the Print Portfolio were generously donated by the artists for publication by the Byam Shaw School of Art in London to use as a means of raising funds for post-graduate scholarships. The series was produced in 2000 in an edition of 90.
