The eldest son of Bernard Leach (1887 - 1979), he worked in the pottery at St Ives, and in 1935 studied Pottery Management at North Staffordshire Technical College, Stoke- on-Trent.  He returned to St Ives in 1937 and radically altered the organisation of the workshop.  In 1946 he became a partner in the pottery.  In 1956 he set up the Lowerdown Pottery at Bovey Tracey.  Leach has been an active memeber of the Craftsmen Potters Association.  His work can be seen in a number of public collections.
