David Mach
Born 1956
David Mach was born in Methil, Fife in Scotland. He is a sculptor and installation artist. He studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College in Dundee and the Royal College of Art. In 1988 he was nominated for the Turner Prize and ten years later was elected a Member of the Royal Academy of Art.
He has had many solo exhibitions and has also been included in numerous group shows. Among his many public commissions was the notable Battleship Polaris, created from car tyres and installed outside the Southbank Centre in London in 1983.
