Sixth Former, Lincoln by David Moore
|
This photograph is taken from the series of 16 that make up 'Pocket Fiction' produced by David Moore in 1996.
We are meeting the people in the photographs for the first time and the open palm is used as a gesture of greeting. Each photograph shows an open palm holding something different. Moore asked each participant to select an object which they felt would represent them. This allows the beholder to develop ideas about the photographed and their story through their choice of object. The photographs reveal how personal history carried in the mind can be made visible.
Many of the photographs reflect aspects of life in Lincolnshire as the work was produced for The Lincolnshire Photography Commission.
