Two Designs for:Campus Landscape: Hazel Hedge by David West
|
These drawings are preliminary studies for the relief works shown elsewhere in the Radcliffe House lounge and bar. West's aim was to create images carved in wood which depicted the University within its surrounding landscape. He spent time walking the campus, immersing himself in the landscape and taking photographs and making sketches which he used to produce the work back in his studio in Lyme Regis.
These drawings show West in the process of developing the ideas gained through his exploratory observations before carrying out the final carvings.
