Dieter Rot
Born 1930, Hanover.
Dieter Roth lived in Switzerland from 1943-55, Denmark to 1957, Iceland to 1964 and from then on in the USA. He had a solo exhibition at the ICA in 1971. In the late 60s and early 70s he collaborated with Richard Hamilton on a number of projects. Like Hamilton his work covers a wide range of interests, from graphics, furniture, textile and interior design to poetry and film-making. Like Hamilton his inspiration is found in popular culture, his work a comment on current social and political events. Much of his work is reminiscent of the American, Stuart Davis .
