Eileen Cooper has developed an individual visual language with distinctive imagery and exotic colour. Influences can be seen in the work of Blake, Gauguin, Picasso and Chagall but she also acknowledges sources of inspiration in Romanesque, Egyptian and Indian art.
A female figure features in many of Cooper's paintings, prints and drawings. She refers to and explores episodes in her own life and her emotional responses to them. But the work is more than autobiographical her poetic images seek to express and celebrate universal human experience.
