Frans Kannik is a Danish artist whose work was included in the touring exhibition 'The Danish Show' shown at the University's Mead Gallery in 1985. Kannik has worked on mural schemes in Denmark, most notably painting the inside of derelict warehouses in Copenhagen's former dockland in 1985.

In this piece he has painted, directly onto blankets and bedsheets, a figure in a gymnastic pose. The theme can be linked to a revival of interest in the figure in art throughout Europe and America in the early 1980s, a trend which is usually referred to as the 'New Figuration'.
