Low Tide by Graham Clarke

A linoprint is a relief print. In making a relief print the non-printing areas of the block are carved away, leaving only the lines or areas to be printed. The block is then rolled with ink which rests on the raised areas.
The effect here is to create a print which has a simple design, with strong lines and areas of colour. If you look closely at the print you can see the different effects Clarke has created by scratching lines into the plate in some areas, while leaving some areas smooth.
