Jasleen Kaur
Born in Glasgow, 1986
Jasleen Kaur is a British artist of Scottish-Indian heritage. Her work explores themes of identity, migration, and belonging. She creates sculptures, installations, films and texts that draw on everyday objects and materials, often taken from home life and from communities with migrant roots, to tell stories that are otherwise overlooked.
Her work explores personal and collective histories, weaving together cultural traditions and contemporary experiences. Through collaborations and research, Kaur brings forward voices and narratives that challenge dominant ideas about heritage and identity.
Her work has been shown widely in galleries and public spaces. In 2024, she won the Turner Prize for Alter Altar, an installation combining family photographs, resin, textiles, and sound to explore faith, migration, and aspiration.
